OUR MISSION

The PTO's mission is to provide meaningful, educational, and fun activities for our students. We have exciting things planned for our BFIS students throughout the school year. Please support your BFIS PTO fundraisers so that we can enhance the school experience for our students through field trips, after school activities and assemblies. PTO meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 4:15 p.m. in the BFIS Media Center.

BFIS PTO MEETING MINUTES
November 6, 2013

Rachel D. called to order at 4:22 pm.

Marie M. motioned for approval the October 2nd Meeting Minutes.  Carol seconded the motion.  All votes in favor of approval.

President’s Report: Rachel Davis
Haunted Harvest
- 425 students participated in the Haunted Harvest festivities.
- Cost of event at or under $1500 budget  
- Carol, Heidi, and Rachel will have an "after event" follow-up meeting to discuss plans for next year's Haunted Harvest.

Lotsa Pasta
- will be spelled "Lotsa" not "Lotza"
- Date has been changed to Dec. 12 to avoid conflict with concert.
- Event will go from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Setup will begin at 3:00 p.m.
- MacPhees will cater the event.  Menu will be Mostaccioli, salad, bread sticks, and drinks.
- Event night will include Meal, Silent Auction, Basket Bonanza, 50/50.  
- Meals will be served both as dine-in or as take-out. 
- Tickets will be pre-sold at a discount and sold at the door for full price.
- Le Anne will coordinate the Silent Auction.
- Wendy will coordinate the Basket Bonanza. 
-  Event will be publicized throughout the Brandon Community, including a public notice in "The Citizen".  Flyers will be put out at local businesses and Downtown. Christmas in the Village booth was suggested and agreed as a good idea for promoting the event and pre-selling tickets.
- Rachel will ask Suzanne from Food Services about using the cafeteria facilities for the event at $12/hour.
- Rachel made a motion that $500 be budgeted for the event.  Coy seconded.  All approved. 

Principals Report: Mrs. Bogner
Suggested a handwritten thank you note be written to the outside judges of the Halloween Costume Contest.  (Greg Allar, School Board Representative and Terri McCrea, Brandon Middle School Representative and Tonja Brice, Brandon Township Library)   

Vice President's Report:  Marie Manion
Feedback received from teachers on So Long Summer Fundraiser.  The Obstacle Course was a big hit per the teachers.  Responses suggested that at the Kickoff a slide show or PowerPoint Presentation be shown to reinforce what the fundraising is for.  Teachers would like for the Fall Fundraiser to be pushed back at least a week next year. 

Treasurer's Report:  Katherine Carpenter
- Katherine gave an Assemblies update.  $2,500 budgeted, $2,400 spent. 
- IMAX day on January 3rd.  A total of 9 IMAX movies will be shown - 3 movies per grade.  Cost of $1,450.  Free popcorn or pretzels will be served to the kids.
- Dennis Regling will present a Science Show on Wednesday February 12th.  Cost $895.

Popcorn Day
Popcorn Day scheduled for Friday, November 15th.  Need 4-5 volunteers at 8:00 that morning to pop the corn, fill the bags, and deliver to classrooms.  Popcorn Day will kickoff the Boxtops & Bueches contest.  As popcorn is delivered, collection cans for Boxtops will be delivered to classrooms.  Popcorn money due November 12th.

Leftover Tye Dye
Rachel motioned and Katherine C. seconded the motion that 27 bottles of tye dye be kept for future tye dye projects and that 66 bottles of tye dye be returned for a full refund.  All approved.

Leftover Haunted Harvest Snacks
PTO will ask Student Council what they would like to do with the leftover snacks.  Leftover pretzels will be served on bus ride to Camp

The next PTO meeting is scheduled for Wednesday December 4th at 4:15.
